Re: Len Goodman
His granny probably died in the 60s so why are people offended? He said he loved curry powder.

Some people have far too much time on their hands.

Time that the institutionally racist and sexually deviant BBC were shut down for good, and licence fees were revoked with a lifetime of reparations for all the good people that were bullied into funding their inhumane acts and word violence throughtout time.

FFS, he's from the generation where any foreign food was treated with suspicion. Would there have been the same reaction if he were talking about frogs legs, or snails. We Brits have always been fussy about our food, which is why every European holiday resort offers a full English breakfast.

Wokeness at it's finest.

Jaan, not quite sure why you're slamming the BBC for this?

'Jaan, not quite sure why you're slamming the BBC for this?'

It wasn't serious, Alfs. It was a sarcastic use of wokeness, ironically aimed at a corporation that actively promotes it.

Alfs 3:07 Mon Jun 6
Re: Len Goodman
Are they promoting it though, Jaan? Or simply reporting the facts with a balanced view?

I think they've been a leading component of wokeness in the UK. They see themselves as the breeding standard, yet sweep under the carpet what they created to never to repeat through woke guilt.

Ooohh I'm offended, I'm offended.
All these people have too much time on their hands.
As Stephen Fry put it, saying that you are offended by something is fine. But for some it's seems to give them some sort of right when it's nothing more than a fucking whinge and a look at me kind of thing.

Re: Len Goodman
Funnily enough that Stephen Fry quote was specifically about Christians being offended about criticism of their religion. He's quite an active proponent of not needlessly offending people and has distanced himself from what he said being misappropriated to act as a carte blanche for being a cunt.

Eerie Descent 9:02 Mon Jun 6
Re: Len Goodman
It wasn't specifically Christians, Dan. It was all religions, but he has probably realised now that they are the only group you can offend with carte blanche.

Pretty sure there's one religion you can't possibly offend

Wokeness and PC are not for the older generation. It’s something the young have created as yet another way of getting the attention they crave.
Let them get on with it and settle back and watch a Bernard Manning DVD.

On the other had back in the day a man of Johnson's low morals wouldn't have been allowed next or near Queen Elizabeth and in fact his personal life (never mind his employment record) would have excluded him from holding any position of responsibility.

It's important to remember that the theatrics of deMOCKracy which are designed to divide and rule the population are a very different beast from genuine democracy which is the result of dialogue and consideration - reaching a consensus for the best result.

Something which rubber necking at the knee jerk posts on social media can't ever hope to accomplish.

Thank you

Had absolutely no idea who this bloke was til I saw a load of people with Ukraine and rainbow flag filters going mental about what he said on a couple of local papers I follow on Facebook.

No one is REALLY offended by anything he's said, performative offence taking is just an easy way for some folk to gain social points.

Given his job he's probably used to dealing with people like this and as such isn't bothered

Re: Len Goodman
Too many idiots are very happy to act offended by someone telling the truth. My mum thought curry was foreign muck too but then, I doubt she ever tried a curry like Len Goodman's mum.

Truth is that someone will always see the bad in anything said in public. Not because they are shocked but because they cannot wait to signal their own virtuous life...

Re: Len Goodman
He told the truth. Back in the 60's alot of people probably thought indian food was muck. If people had an ounce of common sense they would see it is a success story of diversity and look how popular curry is now in UK.

But let the old handbag mob get offended. I hope the BBC don;t react to this but I;m sure they will.

My parents thought that food outside of Greater London was muck let alone anything from abroad.

We should do without laws and courts and just have trial by Twitter.
